What Is BlephEx?
BlephEx is a painless procedure performed by our optometrists in-office. It helps relieve or reduce symptoms of blepharitis, like red eyelids. BlephEx removes excess bacteria and toxins that live along the lash margins and cause inflammation and disease. During the procedure, optometrists spin a disposable micro-sponge that is medically safe along the edge of the eyelids and lashes. In about six to eight minutes, the flakes on the surface are removed, debris discarded, and eyelids are exfoliated. You must follow nightly instructions to ensure your eyelids remain healthy and clean. In general, eyelids are difficult to clean. The BlephEx procedure is a practical and pain-free solution for those with eyelid inflammation.
How Fast Will It Work?
Most patients feel results immediately after the first treatment. However, the severity of the condition impacts how drastic the results are. For example, if you have significant damage to your tear glands, it may take several weeks to notice an improvement. These treatments are needed every four to six months. Routine care is important to reduce bacteria and keep it under control.
